New pre-school building in Kalmar, Sweden.

With the expansion of the Snurrom residential area in Kalmar, the need for preschool places has increased. To meet this need, Förskolan Värsnäs is now being built, a modern two-storey preschool with a gross area of 2031 m². The new preschool will consist of a total of eight departments, divided into two rounds of four.

The preschool is designed with a flexible layout on the second floor that allows for future expansion. This gives the municipality the flexibility to adapt the premises as needed and await further residential development in the area. Currently, pre-school age children living in Snurrom are temporarily placed in other pre-schools in the municipality.

Peikko's part in the project

To meet the requirements for a robust and flexible structure, Peikko supplied DELTABEAM® and steel columns for the preschool's frame.

DELTABEAM®: Innovative beams are used to create an efficient and lightweight frame structure that supports the flexible layout of the second floor.

PETRA® Slab Hanger: A solution that facilitates the integration of hollow-core slabs into the structure and contributes to a fast and cost-effective construction process. It also creates flexibility and adaptation of the building for the future.

By using Peikko products, the project has not only been able to meet the technical requirements but also ensure the sustainability and quality of the building. The new kindergarten is an important addition to the development of the area and will contribute to a better access to educational resources.
