Kulgrunden, at the waterfront in Middelfart, is a unique residential building with beautiful views from the large terraces. The framework of the building is a characteristic pyramidal design that provides ample access for daylight, even at ground level. The seven-story, 8,500 m² building focuses on utilizing the harbor’s potential as a recreational urban space for residents.
While the stepped pyramid shape gives the building a sculptural expression, the large garden terraces are what makes the building unique. The terraces bring life to the facade with textures, colour, depth and variation that create a sense of calmness and balance.
DELTABEAM® Composite beams were chosen for the project due to their high load-bearing capacity, even at low cross-sections. The possibility to create cantilever beams also played a major role due to the complex geometry of the building.
PCs® Corbels were used where an invisible connection between DELTABEAM® and the continuous concrete columns was needed - a solution that could not have been achieved through other solutions.
